2012 CHAMPIONS

“MITE A” SAINTS ARE CHAMPIONS (18-0)
The Saints marched through the Valley League right to the top this season. The Saints worked hard on their skills at Micro Ice and at the Peabody Skills Center during the year. All this hard work helped the Saints score victories against the teams from Groton, Natick, Lynnfield, Woburn, Andover, Melrose, Waltham, North Reading, and Reading. The Saints played 16 games in Valley League which turned into 16 wins, FIRST PLACE and a UNDEFEATED SEASON on top of Valley League. It wasn’t over yet, the Saints flew pass Woburn 4 to 1 in the Valley League Semifinals game. In the semifinals, Cam Rouleau scored twice and Brett Levesque had 1 goal & 1 assist to lead the Saints to the victory. In the title game, Brett Levesque scored 4 goals and assisted on 2 others, Tylor Pappalardo scored 1 goal and had 5 assists, Cam Rouleau wore the hat and had an assist and Colin Ross had two assists as the Saints beat Melrose, 10-2.

In the semifinal game the #3 PeeWee AA team beat #2 Wakefield 6 to 5 in a shootout, after Pat Hare (1 goal & 1 assist) scored with 7:28 left in regulation and Stephen Birch followed 20 seconds later before Joe Moore scored the tying goal with 4:23 remaining, Jacob Heckman with 1 goal & 1 assist in the win. In the title game, James Harootian forced overtime with a goal with 4:27 left and Pat Hare scored the deciding shootout goal to pull out a 3-2 victory over Melrose. The Pee Wee AA team became Valley League PeeWee North American AA Champions

Jake Ring with another goal on his back, and Chris Giuliano (1 goal & 1 assist) with the game winner with 3:38 left in SUDDEN DEATH OVERTIME!

From the period of March 27 through April 3, there were 352 playoff games contested.
During the 2012 VHL Championships, 2,045 goals have been scored
Out of those 352 playoff games, 28 games went into overtime There were also 11 shootouts recorded during the playoff period.

A total of 8 Championship games to be held on April 7 will feature American vs National teams. Two programs – Wilmington and Lexington/Bedford – have two teams that earned the right to compete for those titles.
Medal Count… and Still Counting
The battle for the most medals is still very much on, but Melrose currently leads the way with four (3 – Gold; 1 – Silver), while Burlington, Wilmington and Lexington have both earned two Gold medals. Haverhill has collected 1 Gold and 1 Silver thus far.
Just the (VHL) Facts
More than 8,500 players made up the Valley Hockey League this past season which makes it one of the largest youth hockey leagues in the Northeast
In 2011-2012, the VHL was comprised of 72 divisions and 565 teams.
Congratulations goes out to all of the players for their hard work, while the coaches and parents deserve much credit for dedicating so much time, effort and resources to make this season another huge success.

Mites, are Undefeated for the Season 16-0
Tyler Pappalardo scored 1 goal and assisted on 5 others, Brett Levesque scored 4 goals, Cam Rouleau delivered 2 goals & 2 assists and Marcus Bellomo had 2 assists as the Saints trimmed Woburn, 8-5
Squirt 2 (Northeast American – A)
Huge victory for the Saints, unbeaten in 9 games
Tom Doe and Aidan Ross both wore hats and added an assist as the Saints beat Andover A3, 7-1
PeeWee 2 (West American – A1)
Devon Russell scored twice in a three-goal first period that lifted the Saints past Woburn, 3-2
Squirt 1 (North American – AA)
Riley Nutter scored the tying goal with 6:34 left and Anthony Survilas scored twice as the Saints pulled out a 4-4 tie with Triton
PeeWee 2 (West American – A1)
Bobby Merchel had 1 goal & 1 assist and Matt Bergeron 2 assists as the Saints beat Burlington, 5-3.
PeeWee 2 (West American – A1)
Devon Russell’s second goal of the game, with 2:50 left, turned out to be the winner as the Saints downed Reading, 4-2.
Bantam 1 (South National – AAA)
Bantams win 4th in a row and are 8-2 in their last 10 games
Connor McCurley scored the winner with 3:57 left, Nick Donnelly had 1 goal & assist and Dom Bruzzese 2 assists in a 3-2 decision over Acton-Boxboro
Bantam 1 (South National – AAA)
Andrew Calandra had 2 goals & 1 assist and the
Saints beat NH East AAA2, 4-2.
Squirt 2 (Northeast American – A)
Saints, two ties, unbeaten in 8 games
Aidan Ross's second goal in the game and Tom Doe's goal came 42 seconds apart late,
Doe scored with 4:08 left to give the Saints a 3-3 tie with Natick.
Doe's goal late in the second period gave the Saints a 3-3 tie with Waltham too.
Mite (North American - A)
Mites, 15 straight wins, back to back against Andover
Brett Levesque scored 4 goals, wearing a natural hat in a 22-second span, and added an assist,
Cam Rouleau also wore a hat, adding an assist, and Tyler Ward had 2 assists as the Saints defeated the Andover MG Blue, 11-3.
Cam Rouleau scored 4 goals and had 2 assists and Levesque scored twice in an 8-4 win over the Andover MG Blue.
Squirt 2 (Northeast American – A)
Saints, Back to back Wins, unbeaten in 6 games
Riley Bergstrom wore the hat, Tom Doe had 1 goal & 2 assist,
Trey Sovie delivered 2 goals and Katheryn Maheras had 2 assists as the Saints beat Acton-Boxboro, 7-2

Jason Corsetti scored with 3:27 left in the second period, giving Triton a 1-1 tie with the Saints, who got an early goal from Joe Moore

Matt Survilas scored 2 goals and assisted on another, Jake Ring also scored 2, Michail Lavrentyev and Ryan Day both posted 1 goal & 1 assist, Chris Giuliano had 2 assists and Chris Ronan pitched a shutout as the Saints defeated Burlington, 8-0
PeeWee 3 (Central National – A1)
Tyler Heffernan scored with 5:18 left to give Lexington/Bedford a 1-1 tie with the Saints, who got a second-period goal from Taylor Proulx
PeeWee EHF
The Saints lost in the semi-finals 3-1 to the Minuteman Flames. The boys left it all on the ice but came up a bit short. Brendon Banks tied the game at 1-1 with forty seven seconds left in the first period assisted by Sabastian Farah. The Flames scored the game winner in the second period and added another in the third.
Squirt 1 (North American – AA)
Survilas scores game winner against Tewksbury
The Saints are flying high, 10-1-3 in the last 14 games.
Johnny Pinksten scored the first assisted by Anthony Survilas and the game winning goal scored by Anthony Survilas (Survilas has 14 points in the last 11 games) assisted by David Olsen with only :22 seconds left on the clock as the Saints beat Tewksbury 2-1
Midget (Tier 3 Full Season)
Matt Survilas had 1 goal & 2 assists and Mike Baglieri and Chris Giuliano both scored twice as the Saints defeated Burlington, 5-2
Mite (North American - A)
Mites standing tall, unbeaten in 11 games
Tylor Pappalardo wore the hat, Cam Rouleau and Marcus Bellomo both had 1 goal & 2 assist, Sean Norris posted 3 assists and Brett Levesque had 1 goal & 1 assist as the Saints nipped Woburn, 7-5

The Saints back to back WINS over Methuen, unbeaten in 7 games
Patrick Last scored the first (Last's 8th goal in 8 games) assisted by Tyler Toohey (Toohey has 10 points in 8 games); Parker Rice scored the next two assisted by David Olsen and Johnny Pinksten; Ryan DeSimone scored the fourth and final goal assisted by Riley Nutter and Jake Wrobel in a 4-1 win over Methuen.
PeeWee 2 (West American – A1)
Devon Russell clicked for 2 goals & 1 assist as the Saints defeated Woburn, 4-2

The Saints stop the Rangers, their 7-1-2 in the last 10 games
Leading the way were David Olsen with 2 goals and Ryan DeSimone who had 1 goal & 1 assist (7pts in the last 10 games for DeSimone). Others on the scoring sheet were Riley Nutter 1 goal, Anthony Survilas, Scott Cavan, & Johnny Pinksten all chipped in with 1 assist a piece. Melena Piandes scored an open netter with only seconds on the clock as Saints beat Methuen 5-3
Squirt 1 (North American – AA)
Squirts WIN, their 6-1-3 in the last 10 games
Riley Nutter scored the first assisted by Patrick Cohen; Anthony Survilas scored the second assisted by Scott Caven; and David Olsen scored the last 2 (within 29 seconds of each other in the 3rd period) with assists from Ryan DeSimone and Tyler Toohey while Bobby DiCicco held strong between the pipes as the Saints beat Winchester 4-1

SAINTS PeeWee 1 Team -- 2nd Place
in Waterville Valley’s March Meltdown Tournament March 2-4
They finished 2nd of 4 teams. In the 1st game, they beat Methuen 7-1, the 2nd game they lost to the Connecticut Seahawks 3-1, and then they beat the Tri-County Saints 4-0 to advance to the championship to face Connecticut again. It was a close 1-1 game until later in the 3rd period when Connecticut scored giving them the 2-1 win.
They got the 2nd place trophy in the PeeWee B division.
The team played hard all weekend and should be proud of their accomplishments!

Finished number one seed out of 6 teams
Saints victories over CT Capital 6-1, Franklin Flyers 4-1,
and a shutout against New Haven Warriors 2-0,
moved them into the Playoff round.
The Saints beat the Franklin Flyers 5-3 to advance to the Championship Game.
New Haven Warriors shutout the Saints 6-0 in the Finals.
The Saints scored the 2nd place Trophy in the Pee Wee Division.

Finished number 2 seed out of 12 teams
Saints victories over Woonsocket 8-4, NRI Vikings 3-2,
and a shutout against Burriville Broncos 6-0,
moved them into the Playoff round.
The Saints ran out of goals and lost 6-3 to the Framingham Flyers in the Semi-Finals.
